You are responsible for the drains within your property boundary that serve only your own property. Since the 1 October 2011 private sewer transfer, shared drains serving more than one property and the lateral drain running from your boundary to the public sewer are the responsibility of Northumbrian Water, the statutory water and sewerage company for the Newcastle upon Tyne area.
